Security Messages for U.S. Citizens

26 November 2013 Security Message for U.S. Citizens:  Exercise Caution  The UK government and Police Service of Northern Ireland continue to assess the threat of terrorism in Northern Ireland to be severe. Most attempted attacks are aimed at law enforcement or military personnel or facilities, but there is risk to anyone in the vicinity of such an attack. We urge U.S. citizens to maintain situational awareness and avoid any suspicious activity, vehicles, or packages.

11 January 2013 Belfast : Traffic – Disruptions & Demonstrations   Protests have been continuing in Northern Ireland since early December in response to the vote by Belfast councilors to fly the union flag above City Hall only on designated days. These protests are loosely organized and can occur with relatively short notice, particularly in and around Belfast. Some of the protests have been characterized by violence aimed primarily at the police.
