Consul General
Sandra Kaiser is the acting Consul General in Belfast. Previously a career diplomat, she served as Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in London from 2008 to 2011. She organized President Obama and Mrs. Obama’s May 2011 State Visit to the UK, and directed American media, educational and cultural affairs throughout the UK.
Before that, she served as deputy ambassador at the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen, managing the U.S. government’s response to the Mohammed cartoon crisis. She also served as Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Athens where she managed media around the 2004 Olympics, and directed the U.S. State Department’s European office of press and public affairs.
Ms. Kaiser was part of a team that opened the first American embassy in Estonia after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. She also served in Brazil, and is the recipient of numerous Superior Honor and achievement awards. She currently lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and two children.
